Sagent’s 2023 Intern Program Attracts DFW’s Best

July 26, 2023

Coppell, TX- July 26, 2023 – This summer, Sagent established its first-ever, competitive Internship Program in three disciplines: IT (Information Technology), Supply Chain Management/Engineering, and Accounting & Finance.  Designed to prepare these future leaders in their fields, the inaugural program featured a curriculum of hands-on experience alongside Sagent’s industry experts, as well as face-to-face mentoring opportunities with senior corporate leadership.  The projects Sagent interns tackled ranged from conducting manufacturing time studies and high-tech patent drawing reviews to developing business development deal sheets and writing code.

 

“Not only do interns gain valuable experience, their contributions are put into action and their efforts actually make a difference at Sagent,” said the CEO, Bill Tart.  “In this competitive internship, we assigned responsibility and authority, just like the real world will do.  With that charge, they have definitely exceeded our expectations.”

 

Sagent’s 2023 interns were selected from 213 highly competitive candidates and numerous screening interviews. The company focused on selecting talented candidates who demonstrated the highest potential for leading in the future.  The summer graduating class of 2023, which began in May and ends in August was comprised of Neha Parbate (IT Developer Intern), Shaan Desai, (Finance Intern), and Sydney Kindsvater (Supply Chain Management/Engineering Intern).

 

When asked about their internship experience, Sydney said, “I am very glad I took this Internship here in Texas this summer, despite the insane heat I loved my time at Sagent. I had a great boss and coworkers and appreciated the fact even as an intern, I was given a range of important and enjoyable work for the company and made an impact.” Fellow intern Shaan spoke on his Sagent journey stating, “This internship has been an incredible experience.  The unwavering kindness and invaluable support from everyone involved has fostered an environment where I could thrive, flourish, and make significant strides along this transformative journey.” Neha added, “My IT Developer internship this summer was an amazing journey of growth. I tackled real coding challenges, collaborated with talented professionals, and deepened my technical skills. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited for what’s next!”

 

In 2023, Sagent doubled-down on its efforts to provide opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders.  Through the Texas Internship Challenge, the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, and in the near future, local technical school apprenticeships, Sagent’s engagement with the local workforce will deliver experience/knowledge benefits to the community, while at the same time providing Sagent with insights and exposure to the next generation of employees.

 

As these three interns return to their studies this fall, the whole Sagent family is thankful for the difference they have made here, and even more importantly, the difference they will make in their future endeavors.  Congratulations Intern Class of 2023.

 

The next application period for Sagent Internships will open in Spring of 2024.

Investments in Engineering and Technology Drive a New Name

Coppell, TX – June 14, 2023—Everyday, Sagent tackles customer’s toughest technical challenges.  From copper wire to fiber, from RF radios, microwave, and antennas to routers, circuit cards, and complex power supplies, Sagent creates innovative, customer-focused solutions.  With a much broader offering than ever before, enabled by investments in engineering talent and tools, Sagent is proud to announce the rebranding of its “repair operations center” as the Technical Solutions Center (TSC).

Led by Sagent’s Vice President, Curtis Faulkner, the state-of-the-art TSC, grew 57% during its most recent expansion to the facility in Coppell, Texas.  This is in addition to Sagent’s operations in Rialto, California.  Combined, Faulkner’s technical team operates over 33,000 square feet of solution-focused space using a wide range of capabilities, such as a full electrostatic discharge (ESD) environment, 3D design & rapid prototyping, automated precision radio frequency (RF) troubleshooting and repair tools, and extended environmental testing.

As a recent example of Sagent’s responsive technical capabilities, the TSC received antennas, designed/engineered a new comprehensive test plan, implemented a safe and efficient test program, and had the antennas back on the road within 15 days — far exceeding customer expectations in cost, schedule, and performance.

Most TSC programs go beyond standard depot repair services, a point the Sagent team wears like a badge of honor. Sagent’s VP of the TSC said, “The capability of our TSC has expanded over the twenty years that we have been supporting the communications and specialty electronics market. What started off as repair services has grown to include services such as engineering consulting, test process development, new product compatibility testing, and component redesign enabled by my high-quality team.”

The TSC is equipped with environmental testing chambers, core network emulators, automated rework systems, and robotic PCB probing systems, allowing Sagent’s team of certified technicians to perform functional system level testing and repair at a component level.

Elizabeth Smith joins Sagent as Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

May 15, 2023

Coppell, TX – May 15, 2023.  Elizabeth Smith has been named as the Chief Financial Officer of Sagent LLC, bringing 16 years of financial leadership experience in the technology and industrial sectors to the next phase of Sagent’s growth.

At Sagent, a global provider of network and specialty electronics equipment, repair, and maintenance services, Elizabeth will be integral to developing and implementing strategy, driving technology solutions to create a responsive, value-add, and efficient finance department, and oversee the day-to-day and strategic financial operations of the company.

“I knew Elizabeth was the right person for Sagent’s next chapter just by the word choice on her resume,” Said Bill Tart, Sagent’s CEO. “Strategic problem-solving, elevated talent, leading, ownership, revamping, mentored, drove – all words which illustrate a passion for tackling tough problems and creating results – a perfect fit for the Sagent team.  We are excited to bring her depth and breadth of expertise to bear on our stakeholders’ biggest challenges and I look forward to working closely with such a great partner.”

Prior to joining Sagent, Mrs Smith served in various Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller roles in a number of software/technology companies, and most recently was the CFO at Briggs Industrial Solutions.  In these roles, Elizabeth led businesses through divestitures and spin-offs, re-engineered finance departments, and was a key executive creating and implementing corporate financial and operational strategies.  Smith holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Peru College.  She is a certified public accountant in the states of Texas and California.

Sagent Names Bill Tart CEO

Sagent Names Bill Tart CEO

Coppell, TX – February 6, 2023. Sagent LLC, a global provider of network equipment, repair and maintenance services, has appointed Bill Tart as its Chief Executive Officer replacing longtime CEO, Gordon Smith, who will remain with the Company as Vice Chairman.

Mr. Tart will oversee day-to-day operations of the Company and drive the strategic vision and implementation of Sagent’s offerings domestically and internationally.  With over 30 years of experience in the Private Sector and US Military, Mr. Tart has designed, implemented and overseen both manufacturing and service offerings across a wide range of technologies.

Prior to joining Sagent, Mr. Tart served in various executive roles at DynCorp International and ASRC Federal, and most recently, was President and COO of Draken International.  Prior to these roles, Mr Tart completed a 25-year US Air Force career spanning flying duties as an electronic warfare officer and later a UAV pilot, to staff duties including legislative affairs, Secretary of the Air Force speechwriter, and campaign strategist.  He commanded hundreds of Airmen flying in combat and pioneered the way the US and her Allies approach the use of unmanned aircraft.

Sagent Opens Regional Repair Location to Meet Localized Customer Demand

New Repair and Technical Facility Enables Accelerated Growth, Faster Repair Times & Alternatives for Chip Shortages

RIALTO, CA – September 30, 2021 – Sagent, a global provider of communications network equipment, repair solutions and maintenance services, is proud to announce the opening of their newest repair and technical facility in Rialto, California. The state-of-the-art facility represents a regional expansion of Sagent’s repair services and provides full ESD compliance, experienced technicians and engineering resources. Services include system, board and component level testing and repair solutions, all backed by Sagent’s 20 years of repair experience.

In addition to the corporate headquarters in Coppell, Texas, the new facility doubles the footprint of Sagent’s existing repair capabilities. This enables greater throughput as customer needs rapidly shift away from purchasing new equipment and toward repairing and redeploying their hardware. These strategies reduce costs and circumvent longer new products lead times as a result of the global chip shortage and supply chain disruptions.

“The last two years have shown the weaknesses in many aspects of the global supply chain.” said Shawn Grennan, Vice President of Sales. “Our customers have quickly realized that it is not always the best avenue to refresh equipment in a traditional ‘buy new’ manner. With skyrocketing prices, chip shortages, and logistics constraints, the best solution is often to do more with what you currently own. As a result of this shift, we are seeing tremendous growth in our repair operations which solves those pain points for our customers.”

In addition to helping fulfill the immediate hardware needs of existing customers through repair and redeployment services, Sagent is also enabling companies to leverage and track “Green Metrics” by reducing e-waste through the strategy of repairing and reusing failed hardware, that would have otherwise been scrap. These metrics are logged and reported through Sagent’s proprietary Insights platform, which consolidates millions of data points into a single visual dashboard – allowing customers to make decisions that can have a positive impact on the environment and that complement their ESG strategies.
